Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Longwood Public Library is closed until further notice.

During this time, patrons may keep their library materials at home without late fines. There is no need to return items during the building closure. Read more here.
The Children's Department is proud to present the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative. This national project was created to encourage parent and child bonding through reading with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The goal is to read 1,000 books to your child before they enter Kindergarten. If you read just one book a night, you will have read 365 in a year!
How does it work? Choose some books from our grab-and-go book packs or make your own selections. Simply color in a circle for every book you have read on your log sheet. When the sheet is full, bring it in for your first prize, a brand new paperback book. Children will receive prizes for every 100 books they have completed. Stop by the Children's Department to sign up, get your starter bag and begin your 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten journey!
We wanted to bring 1KBK to you while we all spend some time at home. Whether you want to start now or continue your child’s progress, simply color a star for every book shared with your little one reading on this reading log and visit us when the library re-opens to celebrate and collect your prizes! No printer, no problem… You can use a piece of paper from home and color your own circles or use stickers…it’s up to you!
