Book Discussions

Read a book and participate in a group book review at one of our book discussions to earn three hours of community service. Register for an upcoming book discussion. 

Community Service by Appointment

Looking for some extra community service outside of our regular programming? Call the Teen Services Desk at (631) 924-6400 x249 to schedule a one-hour time slot to work on a project in the Teen Department. Please schedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance as we are unable to accommodate walk-ins. Teens in grades 7-12 with a valid LPL Young Adult card may schedule two time slots per week.

Take Home Community Service

Teens in grades 7-12 with a valid LPL Young Adult card can check out a community service kit to work on at home once a month. Kits are available on a first come first serve basis. Check kit availability in-person in the Teen Services Department or by phone at 631-924-6400 x249. After you return your kit, a librarian will check your work and issue a certificate for two hours of community service.
