Register for the Discover the Solar Eclipse Challenge to receive a pair of eclipse glasses – while supplies last!

Get ready for the celestial event of the decade! Total Solar Eclipse 2024 is making its grand entrance to Long Island on April 8, 2024, between 3:15 pm and 3:30 pm. Long Island will see 88% coverage, and you won’t want to miss it!

ALL AGES, mark your calendars for the library’s Discover the Solar Eclipse Challenge on Beanstack, launching  Monday, March 4!  Register online here or on the Beanstack app, and show us your current Longwood Public Library card, to get a pair of eclipse glasses – while supplies last! Glasses will be available to pick up beginning March 4.

Complete the challenge, and you might just be the lucky winner of Celestron 71008 SkyMaster 25x70 Astronomy Binoculars with Basic Smartphone Adapter 1.25”, thanks to the amazing Friends of the Library!

But that’s not all! Join us for the Total Solar Eclipse program at the library on Wednesday, April 3, from 6:30-7:30 pm. Registration kicks off March 6, so secure your spot (limit 1 per LPL cardholder).  In this interactive program for all ages, Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum will teach you what causes eclipses, the prime spots for viewing, and how to safely witness every mesmerizing moment!  Register for the Total Eclipse program here.
