Event Description

Drug overdose deaths involving opioids have increased in the United States and Suffolk County for more than a decade. Heroin use on Long Island has reached epidemic proportions, according to experts, leaving a wake of deaths, shattered lives, and broken families. Join us for this critical discussion featuring two powerful speakers, Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds and Father Frank Pizzarelli.

Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Family and Children’s Association (FCA) and currently serves on Governor Cuomo’s Heroin and Opioid Task Force, the Executive Committee of the Nassau County Heroin Prevention Task Force, is chair of Suffolk County’s Sober Home Oversight Board, chairs the Huntington Town Opioid Task Force and is a member of Suffolk County’s Heroin/Opiate Epidemic Advisory Panel. Father Frank Pizzarelli, LCSW is Executive Director, Founder and CEO of Hope House Ministries.

Representatives from various agencies including LICAAD, Long Island Recovery Center, THRIVE, Brookhaven Youth Bureau and Catholic Charities will be on hand to provide valuable resources.  Light refreshments will be served.
