Join us for a 2.5 mile hike in beautiful historic Connetquot River State Park Preserve led by Lee McAllister, author of Hiking Long Island. We will traverse along the Connetquot River past historic sites and learn about the flora and fauna around us. There will be a break at the fish hatchery (with bathrooms available) before returning through dry classic pine barrens terrain. Meet at the main parking lot off Sunrise Highway before the 10am start. Dress warmly. Weather permitting.
Details to know before you go:
- We will meet at the main parking lot off Sunrise Highway (Route 27). You must provide your own transportation.
- Be prepared to walk 2.5 miles.
- Be prepared for the weather and ticks! Dress warmly in layers, wear long pants, hat, etc.
- Bring your own drinking water, cameras, binoculars and whatever else you might need or want.
