Event Description

Come with us as we step back in time to April 1834 and the Long Island Rail Road is formed to be one link in a long chain of railroads connecting the East Coast of America. Discover the reasoning and logic of the fourteen founders who blazed through the Long Island Pine Barrens to the road’s terminal at Greenport Harbor. Find out about the road’s train stations along the North Shore of Long Island and the importance of the rail line for travel to New York City.

Borrowing Guidelines

Valid Adult Longwood Public Library Card in good standing.
A maximum of three items from this collection may be borrowed at a time.
Equipment and Gadgets are available at the Adult Reference Desk and must be returned to the Circulation Desk. Equipment and Gadgets may not be returned to the book drop.
If any item is lost or damaged, the full value of the item will be charged to the patron account.
