Event Description

Canasta, the card game, is a variant of Rummy. It was invented in Uruguay in 1939 and first spread to South America before becoming popular in the United States in the 1950s. The word Canasta means “basket” in Spanish. It gets its name because in the card game, you try to get a basket-full (or 7) cards of the same rank in order to obtain points for a canasta. Come advance your knowledge of this skillful game!

Borrowing Guidelines

Valid Adult Longwood Public Library Card in good standing.
A maximum of three items from this collection may be borrowed at a time.
Equipment and Gadgets are available at the Adult Reference Desk and must be returned to the Circulation Desk. Equipment and Gadgets may not be returned to the book drop.
If any item is lost or damaged, the full value of the item will be charged to the patron account.
