We’re celebrating a Month of Games with fun for all ages—featuring board games, video games, puzzles, challenges, and more. It all leads up to the ultimate library takeover: GamerCon, our all-day gaming extravaganza on Friday, July 25. Join us as the library transforms into a gamer’s paradise with mini golf, VR, trivia, crafts, a costume contest, special guests, and nonstop action from 10 am to 8 pm. Whether you're a casual player or a pro, the game is on!

🧝♂️GamerCon Costume Contest 🧙♀️
Show off your PG-appropriate game-inspired gear in our GamerCon Costume Contest! We’re awarding first-place prizes in four categories: Adult, Teen, Child, and Group. Each first-place winner will receive a $50 Visa gift card, and runners-up will take home a $20 Friends Book Sale gift card courtesy of the Friends of the Library. All winners will also receive a custom trophy created in our makerLAB!
Costume photos will be taken at a designated station in the library during GamerCon. These photos will be featured in a public online voting gallery, with voting open through the week and closing the Friday after GamerCon. Follow us on social media for voting updates!
All costumes must adhere to library policy.

Head out back for a full day of fun! Step inside the SLED—Suffolk County’s mobile library—for video games and green screen photos, then enjoy GIANT games, classic lawn games, ping pong, and historic games on the lawn. All ages welcome!
Games Galore on the Floor | 10 am – 8 pm | Children’s Department | Families with children
Swing by the Children’s Department for jumbo-sized fun—battle it out with Giant Connect 4, dig into dinosaur bones, serve up some ping pong, and check out even more surprise games waiting to be discovered!

Drop in and join us for a morning of playing classic board games, such as Chess, Scrabble, Clue, and more in the upstairs Quiet Area. Games will be provided, but feel free to bring your own to share!

Puzzle Palooza: Jigsaw Puzzle Competition | 1 – 3 pm | Quiet Area | Adults | Registration begins July 1
Grab some friends and join us for a fun puzzle competition at the library! Your team of 2 to 4 players will have two hours to assemble a 500-piece puzzle. The team closest to finishing at the end of two hours wins! If you register as a single player, you will be matched up with other single players.
Into the VR-Verse! | 1-5 pm | Ages 12 & up
Step into new worlds and experience gaming like never before with virtual reality! Drop in and play—no headset required (we’ve got you covered)!

Bring the family for some Kahoot! trivia all about gaming. From board games to video games, there’s a question for everyone!
Live Action Pokémon GO! | 3:30 – 4:30 pm | Teen Department | All ages
Stop by to pick up a Poké Ball clue sheet to spot all 20 Pokémon hiding throughout the building! Once you correctly fill out your sheet, return it to the Teen Services desk. The first 25 Pokémon Trainers to correctly "catch 'em all" will get their very own Pokémon to keep and trade with one another if they choose. Supplies are limited.
Painting Warhammer 40,000 Miniatures | 4 – 5 pm | Gallery | All ages
Whether you are a hobbyist or have a curiosity, stop by to watch the intricate and detailed work of painting Warhammer 40,000 miniatures.
